Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines an athletic scholarship to his family and service for the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. It was also the only one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. All three were All-Americans. For 1973 Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for just one season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's finest lineman. In his three years as a starter Oklahoma finished 32-1-0 and secured two national championships. In 1975, he received his third scholarship and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a degree in Education. Fourth service In college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. He also began a career in business. In 1988, he was working as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why the man was named among the top 10 young men across the United States according to the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when his college football career began. He was a captain in 1975. led the team. He joined the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
